Stuck On Them - When it comes to great guilty pleasure acts in the music industry today, we often look at the music of the 1980 s as the best getaway for great music. A decade that has brought us some of the best legends of all time like Michael Jackson, Prince, and many other acts that came from the heart. Yet, one of the most entertaining acts was Huey Lewis & The News. Although their popularity has fizzled deeply after their 80 s success, many people still love listening to their mix of pop, rock, and classic R&B with a hint of Soul, and that was said on a greatest hits record released 10 years ago, but does that same record still stand the test of time?Huey Lewis & The News 2007 re-release of Time Flies was their first domestic greatest hits package, spanning their early to mid 80 s success of their career. The album contains 15 great tracks, as well as a few newly recorded ones for the time of the original 1996 release. The album has been remastered well, but doesn t have that same feeling of being a definitive hits record as it could ve. Although the album does include their big hits like Power Of Love, The Heart Of Rock N Roll, and Stuck With You, it still feels like there is a whole lot missing. The album does overlook a few classic guilty pleasure tracks like Hip To Be Square and Perfect World that were well-played from their 80 s era. Considering, last year a new Huey Lewis & The News Greatest Hits was issued from Capitol, was much more definitive and including all of their big hits, Time Flies now feels more like it is second nature than a must buy for die hard fans. Still, if you don t own a Huey Lewis & the News record, this still feels like a fair starter, but just isn t hip enough to really be square.Album Cover: BSongs: B-Price: CRemastering: B+Overall: C+
Decent Album For The Money - Pretty good except for the fact they left off Walking on a thin line. Record companys do this on purpose so fans dont just buy the greatest hits and ignore the rest of the catalog.
huey lewis - excellent cd of all the hits by huey lewis and the news. really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
The greatest hits are great. - I love every song on this cd. I never really knew anything about this band but one day I saw this and said why not? I like all the songs on here some I knew and some I had never heard but they are all great. I allways listen to this cd now because it s great music. Not just a few songs but the whole cd.
Such a good Album - We ll do a track by track review here...1. Heart of Rock and Roll- Everyone knows this track, and it s a big one. This song has been called bad by some, even some called it a history lesson for naming all these names in cities, but it s a great opener.2. Heart and Soul- The guitar line for this song drives it. It s an amazing tune, and the chorus is catchy as hell. Another great one.3. Doing it All for My Baby- Huey shines as a writer here. It s a very good love song, and a nice solo is thrown in here as well. A very recognizeable track.4. Do You Believe in Love- Another awesmome guitar line here. A slower paced song, and was redone to sound slower and more jazz type. I like the new version better.5. Trouble in Paradise- I haven t really listened to this song much, so I cant give a good estimate on it.6. The Power of Love- The pretty much definitive Huey song. From the Back to the Future soundtrack. Another great guitar part here, and the song starts from the get go, and doesnt ever let up.7. If This is It- These guitar lines are becoming something of a pattern here. An awesome intro, and a great song. You can tell what he was going through when he wrote it. An awesome song.8. Bad is Bad- A good song. A slow, underground type feel. Huey is going back to his home, and sees a strange pai of shoes under the bed. Nice.9. Working For a Livin - A fast paced song about Huey s working days. Short, clocks in a little over 2 minutes.10. It s Alright- When the News do a cappella, they shine. This is a great song, an d all parts blend together so well, and they compliment each other.11. Stuck With You- Kind of an ironic title. It s about two people who fight and have problems, but know they should be together no matter what they do.12. I want a New Drug- Awesome guitar part. Awesome song. Cool video. All around good in this.
